The faculty and staff of Central Baptist Preschool are committed Christians called by God to teach, train and minister to the whole child: spirit, soul, and body. We believe our teachers are important role models and have a tremendous impact on the lives of our children. They will teach and evaluate, plan and prepare, relate and counsel, pray and care.
Our staff looks forward to serving the needs of your child. Please pray for them and give them your respect and encouragement.
Hi Everyone! It is such an honor to be here at CBC Preschool. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in May of 2013 and began working here at Central in September of that same year. I began as a substitute/floater and moved to a position as co-teacher in the Dragonflies class. I then moved to the front office where I served as the preschool’s Administrative Assistant for two years. I was ecstatic when, in 2017, I was granted the opportunity to become the Assistant Director. In October of 2018, I became the Director. I cherish every day that I get to see your sweet little ones grow, explore, and learn about God’s love for each of them! I recently graduated from Liberty University with my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling, and will go on to specialize in Play Therapy. I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for CBC Preschool in the coming years. I adore building relationships with each of our fantastic preschool families, and look forward to meeting new families soon! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me here at the center with any needs that may arise. Be Blessed!
Lisa Jones, Assistant Director
Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Jones, I am honored to serve as the Assistant Director of CBC Preschool. As the founding director of CBCP, this place has always held a very special place in my heart. I have often said that I know the Lord has His hand in what we do here at CBC Preschool. It has been amazing to see this center grow over the past eight years. Watching your little ones grow in their walks with Jesus is such a rewarding experience. Although I resigned as director a few years ago, my heart was always with CBC Preschool and I never went far! I continued to be very involved with the preschool ministry, as well as other ministries within the church. I was so thrilled when I was afforded the opportunity to return officially to CBC Preschool as Assistant Director. My greatest desire is to glorify the Lord here at Central Baptist Church Preschool through loving those He loves and building strong foundations in the lives of those He sends our way!
Hey, I’m Nikki! I am originally from just outside of Greenville, NC. I moved to Wendell in 2014 and I have worked here at CBC Preschool since then. Initially, I worked as an afternoon assistant for the Fireflies class, then the Crickets. In my second year here, I began working as a full time co-teacher, and in May of 2017 was asked to step in as Administrative Assistant. I have served in various ministries of my church for many years and love being able to see the Lord working in the lives of young children. I intend to go back to school in the Fall for early childhood education. I am so excited and humbled by the opportunity to work with each of your children every day, and I count it such a joy to be able to watch them explore the world around them while learning about Jesus’ love for them!
My name is Laurel Heffner. I am pleased to have been with Central Baptist Church Preschool since its opening. I served as Assistant Teacher in the Infant Room, and as Lead Teacher in both the Bumblebees and Fireflies rooms before becoming the Education Specialist in August 2015.I hold an Associate in Applied Science in Secretarial Science from The University of Akron and the State of North Carolina Early Childhood Credential. Working with children has always been rewarding to me even as a teenager working with immigrant children and being a nanny during college. For the past sixteen years I have served in preschool and children’s ministry in various capacities such as Bible Study leader, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Preschool Director, and Vacation Bible School teacher. I have also homeschooled for ten years. My husband and I have three children. Our oldest child is working as a chemist, our middle child is a mutual fund research analyst, and our youngest enters high school in 2017. Our house of worship and service is The Passage Church in Wendell. If I were to name a life verse it would be Colossians 4:2. “Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.” I like to read, attend our children’s events, and spend time with my family.

Hey, I am Morgan Mize. I am so honored to be apart of a center whose main goal is to provide Christian education. I began my journey at CBC preschool as a volunteer in 2013. I married the love of my life and moved to the Wendell area around the beginning of 2018. God is everything to me and I can’t express how excited I am about having the opportunity to serve Him, especially through the lives of young children. Children bring so much joy to life. I am so blessed to be able to work with your children every day. My life verse is Proverbs 3: 5&6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. “
My name is Christi Ferrell. I have three grown daughters and one teenage daughter. I also have four grandchildren! I am passionate about children. Before teaching at Central, I had an in-home daycare for over seven years. I always say you can learn a lot from children and you can never go wrong when you invest in the life of a child. I feel so blessed that I can come to work each day and teach these children. It is especially wonderful to be able to teach them in a Christian environment. Each of these children are such a gift and I am honored that I can be a part of their lives.

Hello! My name is Barbara Hair, I started here at Central Baptist Preschool in August of 2018. I am studying Elementary Education with proficiency in music at Southeastern FWB College. As an afternoon assistant, I consider myself to be extremely blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of the wonderful staff here at Central. I am thankful to work with a preschool that cares so much for not only the practical education of these precious young ones but also for the spiritual education of their hearts and minds!
I was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin and am definitely a Packers fan! What can I say–it’s in my roots! After experiencing my fair share of the cold, I began to wonder what it would be like to move South. When I was 20 years old, someone involved in biblical research witnessed to me. I learned more about the life of Jesus and His purpose, then was saved. An opportunity to move to West Texas showed up, and after seven years there, I moved to North Carolina to raise my children and be close to family. My interest in child development began when I was raising my three children. I attempted to encourage their unique talents and gifts while teaching them responsibility and independence. When my youngest child started preschool, I volunteered in her classroom and found my niche. Even after obtaining an Associate Degree in accounting, I chose to go back to teaching children. I have an accumulation of more than 12 years of working with preschool-aged children. My philosophy is to help children grow in all areas of development, utilizing the five senses through games, music, stories, art, sharing, and playing. I also believe it is important to help children develop their language skills, independence, and problem solving skills. The classroom setting is a perfect place to help their social and emotional development as well. It is also imperative that our children learn to put their trust and thanks in the Lord. This is achieved in part by saying the blessing before meals and teaching biblical truths. These lessons help us to discuss practical ways to recognize and learn about God. My favorite thing about working with children is seeing their personalities emerge. I especially like to see them overcome a challenge by practically applying something they have learned. I want the children to be proud of their accomplishments and learn to share successfully with one another. I love being in the Grasshopper classroom and can’t wait to get to know your children more every day!

My passion for working with children began when I took a child development class in high school. I have had various internship, practicum and volunteer opportunities in child care, early intervention and hospital settings where I have gained valuable experience in working with children. I was raised in a Christian home and at the age of thirteen, I received Jesus Christ as my Savior with all my heart. God is just amazing! I love serving the Lord and enjoy working with children. Here at Central Baptist Preschool I am able to do both! I hope to be a blessing in children’s lives and to be able to make a difference

Hi! I am a retired elementary teacher with over 30 years of experience. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education from Almeda University. After retiring in November 2016, I began seeking God’s direction in what He would have me to do. I know it was God that directed me to Central Baptist Preschool. I love teaching children, especially teaching them God’s principles and Bible verses. I hope they will hide these verses in their hearts and apply them to their lives. I am excited to work with you and help you in teaching your child. I feel it is an honor and privilege that you have entrusted me with your most prized possession—your child.
I graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have worked with children for many years in many facets. I have taught preschool, Kindergarten, piano lessons, and I have tutored. I have also worked in Children’s Church, Sunday School, and Children’s Choir at my church. My name is Kathleen Snyder and I am the K4 Co-Teacher. I am honored that you have chosen to entrust your precious little one to our care here at Central Baptist Preschool. As the mother of two, I completely understand the many emotions you may be experiencing, whether your little one has been under our care for some time or you are sending your little one off to school for the first time. I recall how I felt when the time came to send my children off to school…and now again I am experiencing a season of separation as my daughter, Meghan, is settled into college life and my son, Ryan, has finished college and begun the next phase of his life’s journey. The Lord has given me a tender heart for preschool-age children and I know my position here is a “Divine” appointment. I began working with preschool-age children in 1998; and through the years, have not only been in the classroom, but have also been active in many aspects of children’s and adult ministries. My husband, Mark, and I live in Wendell and are members of Hephzibah Baptist Church. I am committed to loving, instructing, encouraging and guiding your child while he or she is in my care. Our time will not only be spent learning to recognize our ABC’s but also recognizing the need to have a relationship with our Lord and Savior…Jesus Christ. Thank you for giving me the privilege of spending time with your child and I look forward to becoming acquainted with you and seeing what the Lord will accomplish in our lives this year. You may contact me here at the preschool with any questions or concerns between the hours of 7-3 each day…please don’t hesitate.
